Our Vision

The goal of the SOS2 project is to recreate Charles Lindbergh's 1927 solo flight from New York to Paris across the Atlantic Ocean.

The plane is magnificent. It looks even better in real life than it does in pictures. It is a piece of jewelry, constructed with all the attention to detail of a precision crafted timepiece and the passion that has gone into it is evident in its striking beauty. A machine like this needs to be viewed up close and personal, and when one sees it, one can’t help but be overwhelmed by the magnitude of the undertaking as well as the incredible emotion of the adventure it represents.

New York, June 13th 1927

On the day of Lindbergh’s return from Paris an estimated three million Americans celebrated in the streets of New York. From fifth avenue to lower Broadway the crowds were immense and the confetti raining down on the horse drawn carriages and floats produced one of the finest ticker tape parades this great city has ever witnessed.

Charles A. Lindbergh set the Spirit of Saint Louis down in a French airfield just outside of Paris after the grueling thirty-three and a half hour flight across the Atlantic Ocean.
